Nooo...not that kind of Gettin' It Good. You perverts!
My daughter has it good. Damn good. Her summer:
1 week of camp with her two best friends -- crafts, sports, bowling, mini-golf, pool, etc.
1 week of golf camp (1/2 day) then swim /ice skating camp (2nd half of day)
2 weeks of vactaion in Mytle Beach with her family (twas lovely)
1 week of vacation on a lake in Maine with her Aunt
4 weeks of swim camp, with morning sports activities thrown in
1 week of adventure camp w/ swimming, rock climbing, zip lines, etc.
Throw in assorted weekend excursions to the beach, shopping, cookouts, mini golf, family parties and friend's birthday parties (she goes to like 3 per month).
Yeah. She got it good. Its cool to be 8!

Stand Up, Stand Up....
My little guy is standing on his own. But he hasn't taken a step yet. Any minute now he will.

Just Trust Me On This One
My daughter wanted to wear a pretty summer dress today with white tights underneath. When she couldn't find any tights, she decided to pull her knee socks up to mid-thigh.
I struggled to explain to her why that's not a good look for an 8-year-old. Needless to say, she did NOT go to school like that.

Fans
But my little girl wants to come watch me play softball tonight. That's kind of cool to have her tag along. It'll be fun to show her that her old man's not half bad even if he's not what he once was, you know?
She's in her 2nd year playing and has been progressing leaps and bounds. She's one of the better ones on the team, knows it, yet wants to practice to get even better so I'm helping her with that. She's even slightly interested in watching baseball on TV to learn more about it.
At least the weather's spectacular. Wish me luck.

Long Weekend
Long weekends are always cool, of course. But they're even cooler when your birthday falls on the holiday allegedly being celebrated. Yup. My birthday fell on Labor Day this year.
What a great weekend.
Friday night the entire family went to see Avatar. We've seen it on DVD but not in the theater with the entire 3-D experience. Its truly a stunning movievisually, even if the plot is basically the Pocahantis story. I must have become desensitized to violence, thought, until I watch it next to my seven-year-old. But then, she said "cooooooooool!" a few times during some mayhem and let out a "guess that guy won't be using that head again" during a fight seen. I suppose she's unaffected by it all at this point. Is that bad?
Its also funny when people come by picking out their seats and notice an infant. You can hear the whispers and watch them slink away to another part of the theater. They just don't know how awesome he is. He stared that the lights for an hour or so then drifted off to sleep the rest of the time. Not a peep from him.
I golfed the next morning and played awesome if I do say so myself. Best round of the year. Just in time to tune it up for my annual Cape Cod trip/tournament.
Then Saturday night we took in some chilly minor league baseball courtesy of some tickets we won at a fundraiser. We had a blast and ate all kinds of bad food. Our team even won for a change. Plus their were fireworks afterwards. Our little boy took it all in. Easy peesey night!
I golfed the next morning and played less than awesome, but still played ok.
When I arrive home, my little girl was away with her aunt for the night so Mrs. Nouveau took me out to a nice seafood dinner. We both dressed up a bit and had a nice, but not great, meal. What struck me that night is how little people care what they look like! I understand wanting to be comfortable but flip-flops, cargo shorts and a white tee shirt for a Saturday night dinner? Put a little effort in please? Its not Macdonal's. Are we all that lazy that we can't put on a button-up shirt and some khakis? Perhaps I'm becoming a curmudgeon. My little boy was awesome again! Not a peep except for some smiles when patrons stopped by to say how wonderful he is.
I golfed the next morning. Actually played 27 that day, since it was my birthday blayed way less than awesome! Too much of a good thing I suppose.
And that night, after my little girl came back, my in-laws wanted to take me out to dinner. Since it was the holiday many restaurants were closed but we ended up going to a family place up their way. Originally we were just going for pizza, but all ended up getting meals. A decent chicken parmagian was my choice. The portion was huge!
Guess what? My little boy was awesome again! As we were leaving I could hear people in booths nearby commenting how they didn't even know there was a baby in the place. By the way, our little girl is pretty awesome when out too just to be fair. But she sure wasn't this easy when she was nearly 4 months old.
Oh and my birthday score? Some quite expensive golf spikes from the Mrs., a UCONN tee shirt and hat from my daughter and a gift card to Home Depot from my in-laws.
A great birthday weekend!

Weekend Update
Taught my Little One to ride a two-wheeler bike in less than 10 minutes. The three or four times she fell, I caught her. She's been off and running since.
**
I put in a little gym in my garage. A bench, some free weights over a nice pad. Its nice and I really think I'll give it some use.
**
My wife has been so.........HAPPY. News of the pregnancy has just put a complete spring in her step and its awesome to see. I bet it doesn't even taint her 40th birthday coming up in a few weeks.

I'm Still Here!
I've been popping in but haven't been posting much. I look at my blog and say to myself "boring!". I look at my very limited readership and say "Yep! Boring other too". So when I get an idea to blog, which seems rare lately, there's not the fire to do so.
Anyway, I've been busy. Working my two jobs. Moving the Little One's bedroom and helping make her older, smaller one, into a craft room for Mrs. N.
I went to Connecticut's other casino with Mrs. N. Wednesday as we both took the day off and The Little One spent the day with her Grammy. Mrs. N. won $70 or so. I lost about $240. We had a good time though.
I've been playing decent golf and have joined a Tuesday night golf league. Softball's around the corner too, but I'm winding down to just one team I think.
Oh, I have 4 yards of mulch to move and place this weekend but the weather will be in the 80's so it will be nice to be outside.
That's all for now. Ta ta!

What's that Smell?
8 am this morning:
6 -year-old-from the bathroom: Daddy! Daddy!
Me: What? What honey? As I walked down the hall to the bathroom to see what was the matter.
6-year-old: How come it always smells so good in here after you've been in here.
I smiled. It's just deodorant and a very light cologne. Doesn't matter if it was $200 bottle anyway. To her it means "daddy". To me it means the world.
